Followed by the explosion incident, the current governing system has lost its credibility and dealt a fatal blow to the country economy, an immediate reformation is essential. This prompted the public voice for blockchain adoption in the country in hope of saving the dated system.
Blockchain technology is crucial to increase the transparency and the convenience of the smart-city infrastructure, including developing secured networked relationships, interoperable data exchange models, and efficient sharing economy platforms in banking, healthcare, and transportation.
Therefore, this project envision to decentralize the distribution social and economy governance by giving a chance for the people and private sector a chance to participate in city rebuilding programmes, especially Beirut’s Port, while actively monitoring the government to curb any form of corruption and negligence of public safety in the city.
Amid the pandemic and many uncertainties, the project also called for a change in the way of work. To help young workforce adapting to this ever-growing world, an urban reboot programme of 4 phases is proposed:
1.INCUBATION, to produce social elites/ hone individual survival skill in the market for them to be able to earn a stable income;
2.GENERATION, turn innovative ideas into business model to generate income to overturn country financial struggle;
3.EXPRESSION, Express individuals opinion about the country to progressively improve the existing condition from micro to macro issues;
4.RECONCILIATION, Through collaboration, people should come to realize that unification is the only way to bring peace for the country.
With the key framework in mind, the project start to look into the potential users and users synergy in order to sparks collaboration in order to make things work more efficiently and keep modifying the existing work culture.
The project output is to create a synergized pool of a highly intelligent and innovative group of people from various sectors, and they will continue to nurture the next generation, bringing many good to the city in a long run.
The selected 6-acre plot was a former the duty free zone before the blast. As the site placed adjacent to Beyrouth city major highway and the industrial port, the intersection of both local residents and international visitors became a major advantage for the conduction of socio-economic programmes between international boundary.
The site planning is then proposed to be a major one-stop station for several activies such as elite workforce training academy, commercial and co-working area with the intention of creating income and social housing for the staff and trainees.
Each of the major activities occupy a 1/3 of the site build up area, in order to induce a balanced lifestyle between learning, working and living.
To effectively carry out dialogue between all three parties, a public discourse hall is placed right at the intersection, while numerous side programmes filling up the pocket spaces in between major building.
