Project idea

The modern era is full of space news
new discoveries and, perhaps, still unknown, but fascinating and mysterious processes that even modern man does not fully realize and understand. If you delve into the development of physics as a science, you can find a very interesting path from ancient conjectures and erroneous conclusions to precisely mathematically constructed formulas, models and scientifically based patterns of the structure of this world. Looking at the images of mathematical models, I was more and more inspired by the creation of a certain rhythmically and plastically built mysterious image. In order to better study this component of the scheme, I settled on one topic - the topic of "wormholes".
A “wormhole” is a principle that exists in mathematical schemes and equations, although whether such a phenomenon exists in astrophysics has not yet been proven. Describing the definition of "wormhole", one can think of a tunnel through which it is theoretically possible to travel through time, space, and probability even into represented and universes.
If we return to the idea of the created project, it seems to me very important that it can be both an independent art object and the whole Universe under the feet of a person when solving an interesting interior idea. Of course, the future of the project has not yet been decided, but I still really hope that I will be able to see it in some art space, where this work, in the future, would find its buyer.

Project description

This theme inspired me to create a series of sketches that discovered spaces and times created with plastic solutions. In the process of working on ideas on sketches, it became obvious that my compositional images are most highlighted, which are perceived not in a series of rapported drawings, but in an independent textile object. From a series of sketches, one of the most suitable and promising for implementation in the thesis was chosen.
The next step was the search for the most interesting technology to implement in the material. Studying the various ways of performing this project, I settled on the technology of hand tufting, which has its own special expressive characteristics - a unique texture, richness and complexity of color combinations. This technology required a serious transformation of the working sketch.

Technical information

To convey the mystery of the image of this project, it seemed to me that it is best to choose dark shades, but at the same time dilute them a little with bright accents that would emphasize the graphics of the composition. We also took into account the materials of the threads, the technique of driving in and melange, which, under different lighting and angles, give a certain texture to the product and display the desired image of this work.
The created carpet turned out with a density of 1,000,000 (million) dots per square meter. (1 point equates to 1 thread), weighing 31.5 kg and measuring 220 cm by 318 cm. Also, the product consists of 50% wool and 50% acrylic.
