The Reflection House is an experimental pavilion created for contemplation, meditation and other activities that require the ability to abstract from the ordinary human environment.
In my opinion, people's priorities and needs have changed a lot in recent years. People now pay great attention to mental health, intellectual development and the ability to create. Therefore, we need to update our trends in architecture, creating objects that inspire people to such activities. Architectural objects should become a tool for inspiration, not its selfish result.
The Reflection House can be an excellent platform for such research, immersing a person in a creative environment.
The pavilion resembles a religious building, the remains of an ancient large building, its primitive design also makes it look like an ancient homemade instrument created when people had a strong need for it and they invented it from what they had. It makes person fantasize about something high while feeling comfortable inside the object.
I would be happy to realize this object from improvised materials (wooden windows, rusty metal sheets) in order to create a place for the activation of creative meditative activity and at the same time help other architects form the principles of a comfortable conceptual architecture of the New Age.
(Some visualizations inspired by the work of Andrew Wyeth to convey the atmosphere, taken free from the Internet. Finished by me. Not for commercial use.)
The pavilion is a cone with proportions of the Golden Ratio - the ratio between the two sides of the object is 1,618. This makes it comfortable and attractive on an intuitive level, and expands the "mythological legend" about the origin of the object ("why and who built it?" etc.). The DIY effect is created by using wooden windows instead of walls. Metal roof rests on a wooden frame. There is only a low table (or stool) standing in the center
of the pavilion.
Under the roof there are pipes with holes at different heights, which work like a musical pan flute. When the wind blows, a «musical choir» is created
inside the object - an association with the «Сelestial Сhoir». The natural musical roof is one of the main features of The Reflection House.
It expresses its main principle - the search for beauty and magic in the natural phenomena. We can put the object on the pontoon boat for a short trip on calm water. It fits perfectly into nature, but does not lose its individuality. It continues looking like a strange magical object or part
of an ancient building.
I set myself the goal of creating a seemingly primitive constructive object, but with a twist. Such a highlight was, for example, the "singing roof", structurally designed as a pan flute - tubes of different lengths or with different hole heights.
The pavilion is built from a wooden frame. Windows are used instead of walls on the first floor. The roof is assembled from thin sheets of metal, also hung on a solid wooden frame (rigid connection and tension between the upper window, the middle and lower tiers of the roof does not allow it to "fold").
