The project aim is creating An international and local sustainable fashion trading cycle that nourishes Lebanon's economical level. This could be done by sustainable fashion as Lebanon has established itself as one of the biggest players in the Middle Eastern fashion scene. With designers like Elie Saab, Tony Ward and Reem Acra, the country is one of the most fashionable in the region.
such a project located in the port of Beirut will help to originate regional and international connections which promotes Beirut's identity and redeem the pride from trauma.
the project plays a big role in publish out the sustainable local fashion of Beirut to the world-wide and bring the high-end international fashion to Beirut's fashion district.
The fashion industry is the second largest polluter in the world so this project focused on SUSTAINABLE fashion. this process would be sustainable if we changes our way of manufacture the fabrics.
sustainable fabrics could be made by :
- recycling of post industrial waste ( designing out waste of fabrics from fast industry or designing out waste of old clothes
- recycling of post consumer waste ( recycle of plastic to polyester )
there are 4 main aspects for sustainable fashion industry
1- collection of plastic or the textile waste
2- manufacture ( recycling )
3- design
4- selling and show
the main aspect which the project focused on is ( developing the design and selling aspect ) through workshops , shops and fashions shows
it also promoting ( the collection aspect ) and aware people of the importance of recycling through events , gallery , booths
the aspect of manufacture will be enhanced by the location of the project in the port as it's near the free zone area
the project mainly consist of
- incubator which ( for startup projects from Beirut )
- learning center
- administration
- fashion show ( indoor , outdoor )
- shops , gallery , restaurants ..
- capsules for accommodation ( for experts , international visitors , models of fashion shows ... )
1. steel structure for outer walls and roof
2. Whole structure is made of flat slab.
3. the elevation of the building is made of curtain wall and cladding forming a unique shape and differs according to functions
