Project idea

The design project is a high-rise apartment building that is located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, close to the center of Mexico. The project's goal is to address all of the local residents' problems while designing the high-rise building, The study covers what the society has and what lacks there in the process of finding concepts, so that people in the area have strong social ties and share everything, and the society lack communal spaces. And green or vegetation, So the audacious idea of sharing everything is even more daring because it is a quality found only in Ethiopia and is already a part of their daily lives. The problems are solved in the design of the high rise by providing a communal space bordered by green space on each floor. Because every floor will have a linking root from the first to the last, there will be vertical villages that take up less space while still meeting everyone's needs and providing all of the amenities required.
When it comes to the rotating green features, it relates to two things. The first one is that the open space with green will support the concept of social interaction, which holds that when people first move into a place, the design of the homes causes them to interact with one another on a social as well as a financial level. This is the representation of the real neighborhood in a vertical village since the green rotation will connect neighbors floor by floor. For instance, a resident on the 10th story might converse with a neighbor on the 5th floor.

Project description

As stated in the introduction, there are restrictions on the building's location in Mexico. For example, another high-rise building blocks the wind's direction, So the idea of using trees to direct the little wind toward the building's top floor while circulating and ventilating the rooms is better and more sustainable. Additionally, since the wind on the top floor is unhealthy and has high pressure, the trees will reduce this and allow the trees to receive good air from the lower area to guide them to the top.
This high-rise structure has a total of 35 floors, the first 6 of which are commercial and include amenities like a grocery, a traditional restaurant, a barbershop, a pool, and other faculties that are designed with the residents and the local community society in mind.
The upper apartment portion has 29 stories of exclusively residential apartments, with 6 to 7 families totaling up to 200 households on each floor.
The box patterns in the structure are inspired by their horizontal living style, which changed to a vertical design to accommodate the space.
The views of the two sides were blocked by high-rise buildings, so the problem was solved by only guiding the view to selected angles and directing the box, which serves as a representation of their adaptation to interrelated living styles.

Technical information

the building is designed to ventilate naturally, but there is also an HVAC system in addition to supporting the passive system. Ambulances can enter the ground floor up to the fire exit stair, and the building's green and sustainable features make it readable from the bottom to the top, and it will guide your eye by creating a motion picture; additionally, because there is an insufficient compound or most of the area covered by the building, the green feature makes the building blend into the landscape. The building's primary form is a box structure and will be constructed using cantilever slabs, as well as beams and wide columns near each slab. The view in the interior part will create a full box view like a screen from main activity areas such as living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, and balconies on the top floors. This high-rise building also provides 700 car parking in the basement, which is 6 floors enough for the residents and commercial part. the façade separated each other and used a double-glazed system on the harish sun side,
Due to the box shape, you can tell which one is yours in this opulent residence and make everyone feel a feeling of belonging. Additionally, as you enter and exit your home daily, you will encounter your neighbors. Enjoy delight in the traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony in the open spaces with a view of the greenery in addition to the city view.
This building has its underground water sources and a large room for recycling waste. There is a core design for various purposes. 1. garbage shooter, which is linked from the top-level up to the garbage collection and storage level 6th basement accessible by large vehicles 2, a hole on the core for the transmission of gray water and other waste drainage pipes 3. There is another hole for power and an emergency system. 4, a water supply hole, a completely mirrored core design on both sides, and a fire escape stair design in between them.
