Project idea

A renovation of a cafe that serves homemade food into a local coffee roaster in Indonesia that is located above a car wash and detailing. Targeting more young adults, since the customers of the car wash are mostly around that age, the cafe owners choose to bring more bright and industrial kinds of spaces into the new faces of the cafe with lots of communal seating. The original cafe was divided into 3 rooms, the services area and the indoor area are located on the same side but divided by a wall in between so the staff doesn't have free access to see the customers and it makes it hard for the customers to reach the staff as well, while the outdoor seating was located all along the corridor.

Project description

The services area and indoor seating area are designed to be integrated into one space with one main door so that all the staff could have full opportunity to check on the customers. The combination of the two spaces also increases the indoor seating area. The electric blue color all around the cafe was inspired by the color of robot 2000 "The Millenium robot".

Technical information

The new faces of the cafe have one main door and the design was trying to combine the services area and the indoor seating spaces by taking down the wall in between. Around the services area, the ceiling was designed to be open and covered with tinted glasses due to it tends to be dark in the afternoon times.
