Project idea

The Lebanese port was never really accessible to citizens, and never really had a harbor station, which is why I decided to use one of the lands to make it accessible to everyone, not only to Lebanese people but also to travelers which could help the economy of the country and also provide a public space which enhances the exchange between citizens and foreigners. That’s how the idea for my Ferry terminal was created.

Project description

History does not change, we write the present
-A maritime station represents a human flow, and like any architecture, the human is at the center, it is around him that an architecture is developed, the simpler the machine is, and the easier it is for humans to navigate. How to design a pleasant, functional and aesthetic space for this station?
-First of all I started by dividing the outline of the program into placing the axis of vehicular traffic on the side of the commercial area to favor the sea side for the functions, the parking area is the subject of a zone buffer between the city and the project, the greenery spreads over the entire land and is unified in a green zone by the sea.
- Regarding the volume I just started with a simple rectangular shape to which I assigned a grid allowing me a perfect and proportional division between the full and the empty, the full representing the functions and the void representing the meeting zones, in parallel we notice an axis of vision that develops from the beginning of the field and that invites us into the project.
-In the next step the grid will be used for the structure of the project which is divided between imposing structure and light structure. The line of vision extends towards the green area and now invites us into the sea. Then the weft itself becomes a skeleton for the roof and will eventually be clad externally by a metal reflecting the Lebanese sky and inside by the wood reflecting the conviviality of Lebanese people, this roof will therefore become the fifth facade since the facades will be developed in this modular spirit.
-At the center of each part of the project, there are relaxation areas bringing together humans with water and nature, a sign of life and hope. My project is therefore a space in which one does not feel limited since it can be constantly changing. The visual relationship is total throughout the project giving us a light and pleasant appearance.
-If we return to the purest state we find ourselves, in Lebanon, sitting under our vine structure facing the sea.

Technical information

The structural system in this project follows a clear grid, however, for the facades, I developed a unique system of moving panels on the exterior and in the interior, this movement makes this project an ever-changing volume.
