ECO-SCHOOL IN BASMANE HOLE/IZMIR

Project idea

BASMANE HOLE is located next to the cultural park in the urban context.(It is located in front of it, it is located on the boulevard that connects two squares, it is close to places such as Izmir women's museum, radio and democracy museum...)Due to the fact that the land is in such a position that is fed by human mobility, a bio logical pond was built on a part of the land and a school was designed for the students as well as the citizens to spend time there. It also contributes to the ecosystem by offering a piece of nature inside and will also be used for irrigation of plants to be grown at school. In this way, while the biological pond feeds the square and the park on the one hand, it will feed the educational institution on the other hand.
Agora: In the Greek classical period, the area where the people gathered to discuss the administration, politics and trade affairs of the site is defined as the public square.As a result, this area we will design will become an Agora, inspired by the ancient city of Smyrna located near the basmane HOLE .And at the same time, this social space to be created will also function as the gate opening to the
cultural park, starting from the ancient city of Smyrna, which was used in the past, with the "school city / city school" approach that I have adopted.
The citizens will use the square of the school from outside and they will be able to benefit from the social space without interfering with the inner world of the school.

Project description

The project is designed for primary school children. It consists of classrooms, a conference hall, a multi-purpose hall and teacher's rooms. A common courtyard has been designed for students to use at all times. Classrooms that are used every day are placed on the garden floor in order to have quick access to the courtyard, , and Classrooms are placed on the garden floor to strengthen the visual and tactile connection with the green.

Technical information

The project is designed for primary school children and consists of classrooms, conference hall, multi-purpose hall and teacher rooms. Its structural system is steel system.
