Project idea

The building is a social reintegration center for those released from the prison system that seeks to generate support for the rehabilitation process.

Project description

The project is the materialization of the response to a need. A need that we have as a society to eradicate the vicious cycle that is generated through the prison system. For this, it is necessary to offer the opportunity to those who return to live in society, to have a physical support, where they can reconnect with their interiorities, their socio-affective and productive capacities.

That is why the building condenses a programmatic mix, where there are temporary accommodations, therapy rooms, infirmaries, shared spaces, administration, multipurpose spaces, workshops, training workshops and commercial programs.

The intervention is carried out on an existing property in the city of Montevideo, where there are currently 2 abandoned factories. The game is to generate space in the heart of the block as a symbol of welcome to the city. In this way, by conserving a sector of the factory, a new building with a totally different language is projected in contrast to the pre-existing. A project of contrasts.

Technical information

The project has been made entirely in Archicad for modeling and Twinmotion for rendering.
