Project idea

The goal of the project is to design an ecological hotel in line with the terms of eco-design and eco-tourism. Also, one of the most important goals was to differentiate between mass tourism and ecotourism, and to find solving problems during design in line with ecotourism. The idea of the project was derived from analyzing the surrounding environment and finding what distinguishes it. The starting point of the project was inspired by the surrounding environment.

Project description

The project is located in Şalpazarı town at the Black Sea region. The concept is inspired by the Colchicum speciosum flower (vargit çiçeği) native to the Black Sea region. The Colchicum speciosum flower (vargit çiçeği) opens in autumn, which is the most suitable season for tourism in the Black Sea region. As one of the aims of the project was to respect nature, one of the main priorities was not to directly interfere with the land. In order to prevent contact with the ground, metal poles are used that raise the structure of accommodation units and other activity units. harmony with nature has been achieved by using organic design.
First there is the main building, which houses the reception, restaurant and service area, is located on the lower floor and hotel rooms are located on the upper floor. From the upper floor it is possible to reach the common open area, from there the conference room, the kids club and the traditional food workshop to promote the region . In addition, there are family hotel units in groups that can be reached by starting from the common area and walking in touch with nature.

Technical information

The main materials used in the project were a mixture of wood and glass to give transparency and lightness and to harmonize with the surrounding environment. Wood was used extensively in the project, especially because it is a sustainable material and because it is a local material that is abundantly available in the Black Sea region, thus it reduces the energy used in transporting materials and thus reduces the damage to the environment. The top cover that contains the entire project is designed to protect against the volatile weather conditions in the area and thus helps to balance the surrounding atmosphere and reduces the energy used to balance the atmosphere
