Project idea

Fohat is the link between matter, subject, and object, being the universal propelling vital force.
The meditation cabin is located in a bush clearing, siting 300 meters away from the main residence of The Earth Energies Sanctuary. The geometry of the cabin, designed to bring about the balance of body, mind, and soul, is inspired by Fohat´s ancient symbol, resulting in a spiral path created by four staggered platforms and a central altar under a skylight where the energy concentrates. Its purpose is to allow guests to use the space in different and adaptable ways, providing a more personal and comfortable experience.

Project description

The program consists of a space capable of giving shelter to 4 students and a tutor for meditation practice where the space is divided into 5 platforms the space becomes very rich giving everyone their own space but being connected with each other .
Besides the sensations the platforms bring to the project, functionally gives us the possibility to use the last platform as an Altar where the plants receive direct sunlight and can be used as a table. The other platforms create spaces to sit around the cabin and even hold some small storage below, one of them hiding a bioethanol bonfire (which doesn´t emit as much CO2 as a regular bonfire being perfect for interiors) in the middle of the top platform.

Technical information

Geometric figures are combined and thus believed to reflect the structure of the natural world, its full synaesthetic meaning—texture, light, smell— construing complex and truly novel buildings, and giving place to atmospheres appropriate to the diverse programs.
Besides the platforms, Fohat considered the surroundings and the connection with nature essential for a meditation space although comfort and protection should not be left behind, then we found textiles to be the best fit to make a flexible covering for the cabin where the users can regulate how open they want to be to de surroundings or to isolate themselves just giving a glance of the trees, wind, and light to the interior. Each of the columns make room for the fabric to come through them being able to tense each row at a deferent point, we believe in giving the users the possibilities and letting them the chance to own the space.
