Project idea

The purgatory represents the essence and energy of my project, connecting Life, Death and everything beyond. It represents an after-death state during which a soul, incompletely sanctified but not entirely spattered with sin, goes through the purgatory phase before joining paradise, henceforth this spiritual path will be expressed by an architecture of terrestrial distress, From the suicide forest of Aokigahara, going into divine spirituality.
But how is the symbolic link between Life and Death connected to a purgatory site in architecture? How does this space constitute a reconciliation between a man and a certain memory?

The Aokigahara forest is the third most popular suicide spot due to multiple social, economic, and spiritual factors. After numerous analyses and research, this area requires a rehabilitation project for patients suffering from dark and suicidal thoughts.
The chosen site is located between the suicide forest symbolizing Death, the village epitomizing Life, and the Saikonishi lake representing purification.
The idea behind this work was to link these phases, eventually forming a trinity and a pathway of therapeutic experience.
This passage is a succession of four stages:
The Earth zone: Matter, Death, agony and work.
The Therapy zone: A center of transformation from torment to healing.
The Art zone: An area representing the unfolding of the soul.
Spirituality which links the body to the soul favorizing purification and transcendence.
People will pass these stages of purification from Earth to the purity of Transparency.
This is the terrestrial purgatory.
