Project Idea
Stu campus is located in the city center area and the main development axis. The inner courtyard of Stu campus is situated in between Námestie Slobody square, kollárovo square, starohoská, and radlinská streets. It is a significant public urban space. Námestie Slobody square (freedom square -Bratislava) is in front of the faculty of architecture and design department. It is a large green public space. Kollárovo square is a park square adjacent to the old faculty of the chemical and food technology department. Compared to the adjacent surroundings the inner courtyard of stu campus is not an inviting space at all. The heavy laboratory was not maintained and due to the negligence of technical condition, it is also in bad condition so my proposal is to remove all the temporary buildings and heavy laboratory. My aim was to create a Green public space like Námestie Slobody square and to create main public spaces with eco-green/friendly principles or sustainable architecture. It is essential to maintain the connectivity of the main public space of Námestie Slobody and radlinská street in a form of a Green Wave connecting it diagonally. Existing connections are retained in the proposal and some new connections have been provided for interconnection with 4 different faculties to achieve the communications between the courtyard and faculties focusing, academic environment, and socializing space in the inner courtyard. Another main objective is to utilize the natural terrain of the site to provide a connection between the buildings and with different four faculties in the form of “pedestrian bridges”
