Project idea

The project of the hyperloop desert campus was a challenge based on the fun of modeling the structure. The building is located in the Nevada desert which has a serious impact on the process of the design. The building shape was inspired by the landscape with the mountains on the horizon. The idea and main challenge were to connect many functions in one organism and blend them as a landmark of the local area.

Project description

Functions in the building are organized on 3 levels around a large core. The core is built by the places which are available for the visitors and employees - theatre and atrium. It is a commonplace where people can share their experiences. Spaces for the employee's area located on level +2 and there are not available for the visitors. It is the headquarters and social area with a gym and restaurant surrounded by the apartments. They are accessible from the boardwalk dedicated to the employees. The connections between spaces were important in this challenge which can be noticed in the schemes.

Technical information

Construction of walls is based on the earth rammed technique. It's provides good temperature conditions. During the daytime, the sun heats the surface of the building but the material heating very slowly and protecting the cooling atmosphere inside. At night time where temperatures are much lower, the heated surface of the building gives warmth to the inside of the structure.
