Project idea

A lighthouse that rises from the heart of the campus and is seen from all around the city defines this project.
The connection between the city and the campus stems from the perception that learning and leisure are two parts of a whole, and as the campus is located at the heart of an urban texture the project uses the urbanism as a resource for leisure activities to be incorporated in the campus on three connecting aspects:
historically there is a reaeration to the historic path that once went through the campus, before it was built. The lighthouse and freedom square are central landmarks in the city.
The project rises form the existing heavy laboratory building and serves as a vertical street that interweaves learning and leisure activities.

Project description

Creating three connecting aspects between the city and the campus that meet in the existing laboratory building. The building is being reused as part of a space that offers activities that include learning and leisure and are intergrated in the campus courtyard.
The lighthouse serves as the urban aspect, it rises from the existing laboratory building and acts as a vertical street that also interweaves learning and leisure activities.

Technical information

Reusing the laboratory building as a connection between the city and the campus while reserving and responding to its existing characteristics, alongside the added tower which rises from the building and the two other aspects that cross it.
