Project idea

The Project seeks to create a platform of exchange, from educational, scientific and cultural innovation. It embodies the existing courtyard and by creating three levels of thresholds within the context of the existing buildings have transitions from public to private and more quite spaces.

Project description

Existing courtyard forms part of the interactive public space with intimate pods for introvert interactions, thus the whole ground level functions as a public space with easy access to the public and lower ground basement level. The change in gradient allows for natural light within the unconditioned parking space. adjacent to the entrance hall and waiting area is a exhibition galley that forms as a feature for the Innovation center.

Differences in levels coupled with double volumetric spaces allow for natural airflow within the interactive common spaces (post pandemic architecture). The first and second floor accommodates laboratories, offices, library and special quiet or meditation spaces which promote thought generation. Pockets of digital galleries are also available on all levels for recording of light bulb moments.

Technical information

The project is oriented in a more brutalist architectural approach in context to surrounding buildings. It is carried by concrete columns that transcends from the lower ground all the way to the light weight roof structure. Double glazing and horizontal shedding has also been incorporated to create a thermal comfort within habitable spaces.

Roof sky lights and double volume spaces allows for natural ventilation of the building and reduces cost in mechanical methods of air control. Orientation of the building is generally South and planters have been provided for a healthy outdoor environment for users.

Wienerberger paving bricks to be used on the outdoor paving.
