Project idea

Due to the location of the site, mining has become the main inspiration. The project is located on a mining heap. Old mine railway lines run through
the area. The main goal was to create a meeting place and social integration - individual pavilions, which refer to the mining industry, perform recreational functions.

Project description

The functional and spatial program covering the heap aims to transform it into a usable space, which will be a place for integration of the local community and people visiting Jastrzębie-Zdrój. Currently, the heap is not developed, it has an unattractive area for visitors. After the development, the area will surely attract crowds of people practicing sports and wanting to rest. The main goal is to create a recreational base that uses elements of the environment. setting out new bicycle routes in the place of the former railway lines and connecting them with the existing "Iron Trail" will enable the continuity of communication in the Śląskie Voivodeship to the border with the Czech Republic.

Technical information

The project uses the structures of underground galleries characteristic of mining (arch-flexible housing). In addition, the project supports environmental protection. The toboggan run lift is equipped with a 160-meter-long housing where photovoltaic cells are placed - renewable energy will support the toboggan run as well as the local points of the heap. The project includes a design of a methane drainage station - thanks to the combustion of methane, it will be possible to use thermal energy to heat rooms, and on warm days to cool them. There is an old heat pipeline on the site, thanks to which it is possible to sell heat energy to local residents. The gas engine, burning methane, will generate electricity, which will be a free source to power the entire infrastructure. It will be possible to sell the excess energy to the power company.
