Project idea

The American military dormitory located at Yangming Mountain (Taipei, Taiwan) was damaged and severely damaged after the withdrawal of the American army in 1978 because of lack of maintenance.

The concept of preservation of historic cultural relics has improved over the last few years. Some buildings that have not been used for more than a decade have been resurrected, and more of them are historical buildings that have not been dealt with and lack maintenance.

Project description

The area surrounding Shanzai Yangming Mountain is a small alluvial plain over Yangming Mountain, so many residents have lived here for decades. Currently, the main population is older people, students and professors from the Chinese Culture University. The land is rare, The development of public space is fairly limited, and it also limits the space for residents to move around this area.

The U.S. Military dorm occupies a large area. If the building of the US military dormitory is properly used, the problem of insufficient space can be alleviated, and more activities can be created to condense the sense of community and identity of local residents and students.

Technical information

In the building, the chimneys, red bricks, sloping roofs, and large front and back courtyards are preserved. When residents come to rest, they can recall the history of the US military in the local area at that time, perhaps also the memory of many old people.
