This project is situated in Mirdiff City Centre, Dubai, UAE. The main concept in this project was carving different sizes of cones in the volume creating different spaces for different programs. And this restaurant is a Japanese restaurant called YakiBinch Restaurant. Moreover, the word YakiBinch comes from a combination of Yakitori and Binchotan.
The cooking of Yakitori involves skewering the meat with kushi (bamboo skewer) that is then grilled over Binchotan fire. Therefore, the use of bamboo material in this project connects with the kushi. Binchotan is a type of charcoal that is used for cooking as it produces strong heat with no vapor, special aroma and texture. Therefore, the tables are designed in a way where people can comfortably and enjoy cooking their food using the charcoal fire in the center of their tables.
The use of different colors helps differentiate different spaces. The main entrance is colored in red which attracts the customer's attention and curiousity to enter the restaurant. Then there is the main dining space for families of 2-6 people which is colored in dark grey. Moreover, the secondary dining space, which is colored in yellow, and the space has 4 booths for families of 2-6 people as well but specially for those who want privacy, or wants cooked food immediately, or for those special birthday parties. Lastly, the VIP dining space on the second floor has a different flooring material as well has a bar.
