The concept of the Love Memorial is to help people who have Just fall out of a Relationship to forget their Exs, leaving or abandoning the material souvenirs that remained with them in the holes of a wall called "The Wall of memories", in a way of healing from that love.
This project started with a model study of love tragedies, I read and reread Arab and Greek love mythologies and their tragedies.
One of the most important things about the project is its site, inspired by the myth of the white cliff from which Apollo, Artemis and Aphrodite threw themselves to heal from love, killing themselves by this act. And many other stories (Orpheus and Eurydice, Apollo and Daphné etc ...) and Arabic poetry (Kaiss and Laila, Kathir and Anza ...) The interest of the project was not to capture the physical pain of tragedies of love but to create an abstraction, thus giving people the freedom of interpretation.
The simple square represents the heart, it is made of glass to indicate the emotional fragility of this organ, then I pierced it in two by a wall to illustrate the broken heart, the parametric ceiling reminds by these piercing lamps and its red colour the blood and bread, like what the heart bleeds.
The wall is also parametric, it has holes that are used to store the memories and objects brought by people, then it folds and covers the auditorium in the open air where you can watch plays or hear poems of love.
All these spaces allow visitors to spend a day of forgiveness and forgetting and restart again.
I chose glass and raw concrete as the main materials of the project to create sensations that will reinforce the purpose and function of the project: The fragility of the heart in the face of the brutality of love.
