Project idea

Today, when the population of small towns is rapidly declining, it is necessary to focus on their development. People want and can live comfortably in small cities, and not only in megacities. A comfortable urban environment can be the first step towards this goal.
The diploma project is being developed for the city of Sosnovy Bor, Leningrad region, the city's population is about 65 thousand people. Despite the active implementation of several projects within the framework of the program "Formation of a comfortable urban environment", the city cannot boast of interesting public spaces.

Project description

As a starting point, conclusions were drawn from the study, according to the schemes, in the immediate vicinity of the territory, as well as directly on the site, there are several objects that can be involved in the space of the future park. These turned out to be: a library, a square of liquidators of nuclear disasters, an art museum, as well as a landscape object – a dune. These points of attraction can be viewed through the prism of broader thematic associations. For example, a library embodies the theme of literature, and an art museum embodies fine art. Thus, it turned out to divide the site into a kind of thematic areas. These zones are concentrated in one part of the park, while in the other there is only one object-a dune embodying a natural phenomenon. The division into parts allowed us to outline the main vector of the conceptual solution: The site is divided into 2 global themes that unite the smaller ones identified earlier, namely, the landscape part and the part of sciences and arts. The combination of these two concepts led to a common name - "Nature and Man Park", where Nature will be expressed in the landscape (artificial and natural), and science and art are the embodiments of human genius.
The concept is based not only on the ideological content, but also on the actual state of things. The decisions of the general plan were dictated by the existing directions of movement of pedestrian flows. Also, private problems or advantages of the territory were identified, which were solved, among other things.
In terms of project proposals, a separate place is occupied by a conceptual solution for the reconstruction of such an object as the Petrov House. This building is located directly on the territory of the site and is in an emergency dilapidated state. The decision on the reconstruction of the Petrov house was developed with an eye to the historical appearance of the building, restored from photographs. Residents of the city offer to place a local history museum in the building. The project does not propose a complete restoration of the historical appearance, but a more modern adaptation based on the historical volumes of the building.

Technical information

The area is located in the city Sosnovy Bor, Leningrad region. The territory along Leningradskaya Street from the square in front of the City Hall to the house № 70 on Leningradskaya Street. The plot area is 4.65 Hectares.
The site proposed for development is located in close proximity to the main highway of the city (highway 41A-007, which provides a connection between St. Petersburg and the city of Sosnovy Bor, the NPP and the seaport of Ust-Luga). The territory is intersected by automobile driveways to residential buildings and the Cathedral Passage.
