Project idea

Hexakanit Tourism Centre is located on an island with a magnificent panoramic view and high value in nature. This tourism centre support the sustainability of the nature and the material uses in this building support the idea of low carbon emisions, least carbon footprint. As this tourism centre is located near the island of Bangka Belitung, one of the biggest area with kaolinite source. So this projects uses kaolinite powder as the main material, which then being experimented into architectural products such as wall, bricks and roof material for the tourism centre.

This tourism center implemented “humbleness” as a big concept, where nature and building could blend in together. And “dispersion” as a supporting concept which is implemented in the masses organisation, where this concept is inspired by the famous kaolin hills with the lake in the middle as a symbol of life.

Project description

Hexakanit tourism centre located on the island with the goals to provides visitors with information about the beauty of the nature on the island. This tourism centre provides various facilities such as a lounge, exhibition area, workshop, mini library, amphitheater area, and information area.

The site is located in Pulau Kepayang, Bangka Belitung, Indonesia.
