Project idea

The theme of this project is management of a square at the Swarożyca street in Szczecin including project of object with showroom function.
A concept of a management was based on square shaped modules marked out by strong relation between a building of the theatre and the water reservoir for firefighting.
The lawns were shaped freely but in the name of main composition rule they weren’t destroying a cohesion of all project.
A chunk includes many references to the past catched in a innovative and timeless way. The dynamics speaks to the spectator and invites him to learning about main motive history – Filipinki band as well as history of Szczecin.
It becomes very important thing in the grounds and emphasizes its validity and character.
This project bonds together many different strands but finally makes a new story which include past, present and future spirit.

Project description

The designed building was placed in a square module of land development with dimensions of 20x20m to the building in relation to the strong fire protection and the theater building. Place an array of elements into squares with the same dimensions making it versatile and regular.
The form of the building was inscribed in a square and then modified in such a way as not to conflict with any existing trees worth preserving. This treatment added dynamics to the projection already in the initial design stage.
On the further track of the search for the dynamics of the form, the idea of four triangular roof slopes above the consumption hall emerged from one point in the break of the northern elevation towards the south-front elevation. Various inclinations of the roof slope created a corner in the front elevation, opening up to the park greenery.
The back room was covered with a flat roof, the height of which corresponds to the upper edge of the horizontal tilt windows. This procedure emphasized the dynamism of the building even more by creating a step in the roof space. The most important effect, however, is the skylight created thanks to this, which allows daylight to fall inside the entire length of the building and makes the interior optically enlarged.
The building's façades are completely glazed
To emphasize the reason for the creation, in this place, from the north-east side, behind matte glazing, there is a monochrome graphic referring to the Filipinek clip entitled
"Walk around the city". It illustrates the style, fashion of the 1950s and 1960s as well as the architecture of Szczecin of that period.
Another important reference to the context of the place are the sliding panels mounted on the glass facade. The pattern refers to the decorative element of the windows existing in the place of the Polish Theater before 1938. The seats of freemasons, masons of the "Lodge of Three Circles". Their openwork design also emphasizes the character of the tenement houses at ul. Swarożyca, with openwork balconies.
An additional advantage is the function of sliding panels. Thanks to their mobility, you can freely adjust the sunlight, which, falling through the panels, is diffused, which creates light and shade inside. This procedure can be used as a background for exhibitions and performances.
Due to the shape of the lawns by the building, the idea was born to drag their shape through the building, differentiating the floor in the interior. The arrangement of tables in the consumption room has been adapted to the shape of the edge of the floor, thanks to which the connection between the interior and the exterior has been emphasized.

Technical information

The main functions to be performed by the pavilion are the restaurant and the workshop / exhibition room.
A building with an irregular plan in a light steel structure. A dynamic block with an accent in the form of a rising corner on the left side of the front elevation, emphasized by triangular roofs with varying degrees of inclination over the representative part. A characteristic step over the flat roof of the back-up facility providing additional lighting for the consumption room from the north-east. Glazed curtain walls (transparent and frosted glass) were used to reveal the structural elements and give the body an impression of lightness.
Openwork sliding panels have been installed on the facades to adjust and diffuse the light entering the building.
On the north side, a terrace was designed as an extension of the lower back-end part.
