Project idea

Self-driving become more and more popular in the future, as well as the concept of "sharing" does. People need more Civic Space. As a regional transportation hub, the circle gathers people from all directions. Dongmen Circle is one of the most people-friendly among all the circles in Tainan City, and it is also the place where Zheng Chenggong signed the contract with the Dutch. But now it is idle. The design uses speed and circumvention methods to change, break the numbness of the future life, and bring together various people to communicate here.

Project description

I Keep the original positioning meaning and the ring characteristics of the roundabout.
The lanes are shrunk into single lanes, and the distance to the circle is reduced, allowing people to enter naturally.
Because the ring is too large, it creates a sense of distance to the opposite buildings. In order to narrow the distance between people, I left the ground empty so that the sight is unobstructed and people can see the activities on the street.
Because the opposite side is very close to the scene, people want to walk across the ring to the opposite side, but they don’t knowthey are going further and down.

Here, the only entrance facing the historical cross street can lead to the roof
When you stand in the center, you can see the whole picture in 360 degrees, and every floor
It symbolizes the peace signing

Concentrically developing outward:
Eat and Rest /Sports /Running / Art Exhibition /Rooftop: Dance Show/ Indoor :Lecture

Face all aspects
: Snacks, Dongmen circle, station circle, old urban area, art exhibition area
collect all activities and extend them to here

Everyone is here for their own purpose, whether it’s to watch exhibitions, watch performances, exercise, rest, or see what everyone in the city is doing.
Everyone shares the same space
Everyone will still come to this event when there is no exhibition or performance

On this base, the shadows of all eras, whether it is Ming, Qing, Japan, or the Republic of China, have been preserved at the same time, and it has become an intersection of common prosperity.

Technical information

Everything is changing, the only thing which never changes is people's feeling about the space. not only have to know the futural technique but also know how it affects people's minds and lives. Aa an architect, we have to think about what is good for humans and find the balance between technique, natural environments, and human.
