Project idea

The concept for the project of the dormitory of the Siberian State University of Physical Culture is based on the Rubik's Cube puzzle. Entering the university, a student is a disassembled puzzle, which gradually develops throughout the entire study and ultimately gathers into a conscious independent personality. The cube is not only an abstract ideological component, this figure served to shape concrete physical objects.

Project description

The first room, passing through a passage, is spacious on the ground floor, with a walkway, a passage and a passage to the courtyard. Also, only through it you can get to the administrative premises. The lobby is designed in soothing colors and is visible from the streets. Also, through this room, there is a passage to the common corridor and to the stairs.

Going up to the 2nd floor of the hostel, you can get to the Dining Room. It is designed for 74 seats, which are mobile and allow you to change the planning solution by moving tables and moving them in space. The dining room space is divided into functional and ideological zones. There is a transit passage area near the windows, which is the shortest route along the 2nd floor. There are several seating options in the dining area (tables for large companies, seating at the bar and soft seating for those who eat alone). The distribution and technical areas of the kitchen are located behind the central light panel. In the hostel, there are 10 residential blocks per floor, which in turn are designed for 4 people. In the residential block there is a kitchen-living room, equipped with a kitchen set, a small sofa and a bar for 2 people. Through the kitchen you can get to the bathroom and 2 living rooms.

The idea of a living room is based on the idea of a transformable space. The interior is filled with modular furniture, which can easily change its position. Students change every year and, in order to create comfortable conditions for everyone, it is given the opportunity to create your own version of the planning solution by moving objects.

On the sixth floor of the hostel there is a recreation room, which can be accessed through a common corridor or through the library located on the floor above. The recreation room is a bright, spacious room with tables for independent work, a relaxation area with a sofa, table tennis, a mini-cinema with a projector and soft ottomans, and also an exit to the rooftop terrace with a view of the city's panorama.

As mentioned earlier, from the common room you can get to the Library by stairs and from the corridor. The student library has a large ceiling height of 4.2m. Through the open glass ceiling, the room is filled with light and air, which creates a favorable atmosphere for research, study and leisure time reading. There are not only bookshelves here: the room has two tiers; also a swing and a climbing wall. Mental work should be accompanied by physical work, so you can switch the type of activity without leaving one room.

Technical information

The main color scheme was chosen for a reason: gray, black and yellow, which is so lacking in the Siberian region, where it is cold for half a year.
