Since we are living in the concrete era, this project offers a solution to minimizing the impact of concrete in nature, letting the nature breath and grow freely. Bringing the nature and architecture together was another goal of this project.
This station is going to be national and international train station.
The intersection of the railway with the main road made the railway move to the underground level, which made the idea of the project easier.
A major challenge was creating a space, inside which, people won't get the idea of being underground and have that fear of enclosed and confined spaces. By creating a structure, inspired by Dragon-blood tree, and multiplying that structure module, gave chance to designing a very open space.
This structure module is wrapped in glass, in which openings are possible, in order to have natural air ventilation and natural light from above. It also made looking at the sky possible. The inside of the structure module will be open to nature (rain and snow) and it will be used for greenery.
-The building will be three stories underground and will have two entrances, which will be a building in itself, on opposite sides, but from the inside will be connected to an open space with the possibility of viewing the train platforms which are located on the lowest level.
- The entrance level, which will be at the quota -7.0m, in the outer space will have the arrival area, parking for cars, buses, taxis and bicycles, while inside the building will be ticket sales and information, reception area, restaurant, cafeteria, toilets and vertical circulation. The vertical movement is done through the ramp around one of the structural module, static stairs, escalators and elevators. There will also be economic entrance which is separate from the main entrance. From this level the train platforms are visible. There is no connection between the two buildings, only visible from one another.
- The second level, in the quota -11.5m, has underground parking and is mainly for services and the administration. It serves as a bridge between the entrance level and the train platforms. From this level train platforms are also visible. In this level too, there is no connection between the two buildings.
- The last level, in which the platforms are located, has the quota -16.0m and is the level where the two buildings get connected. This level contains ticket control, passport and luggage control, restaurants, waiting areas, as well as the railway and the platforms. The transition from platform to platform will be done through escalators, static stairs and elevators, on both sides.
