Project idea

In this project, I was to design a Transit Hub. Since the site is located in Paser Seni, Malaysia, a place with historical Chinese influence , I’ve drawn inspiration from the Phoenix which is a symbolic representation in the Chinese culture.

Therefore, the concept I have formulated was to celebrate circulation where paths utilized for pedestrians and vehicles are created to emphasize on a safe environment as well as boost user flow.

Besides this it will attract various users that are not only limited to travelers but also musicians, performers and photographers. This strategy is utilized to boost profit on the site as well draw in users to have an enjoyable time.

It will also invite students and workers to research and have meetings as the site is a well known landmark that connects different parts of Malaysia.

In conclusion, the transit hub will celebrate co-working activities and not only be a place of rest for users to come to the site.

Project description

The spaces and design of the transit hub were formulated based on the various users that may come to the site and various site issues.

One of the biggest aim was to cater to vehicular circulation and bring in profit to the site as it is a well known landmark in Malaysia.

The next was to break away from modern blocks that were surrounded on the site .

The transit hub itself , will act as a landmark, therefore it will use architectural elements that draw in people to the site .

The hub will incorporate various green elements and celebrate open various that are naturally ventilated and mechanically ventilated.

Technical information

The transit Hub to be designed had to accommodate atleast 50 users and should consist of three floors.

Since the hub will consist of large open spaces it will utilize concrete metal decking to support the structure.

The curvy roof that will be utilized is to showcase movement and circulation and will be supported by large parametric columns that are dressed in bamboo finish.
