This project is located in a remote village in Oman where it is mainly surrounded by the sea and mountains with no fertile soil or potable water around. Locals have to rely on helicopters to bring them food supplies and water monthly. This project aims to encourage the locals to use hydroponics as a way to sustain themselves by desalinating water from the sea.
This project has two functions. The first function is the hydroponics spaces for the locals to grow their own food in. The second one is water research laboratories for the scientists to host workshops about hydroponics and desalination. This project also includes accommodation spaces and a retreat for the scientists.
This project explores the idea of using vector active systems by using tubes that have three purposes; hydroponics, structure and a shield.
