Ust-Labinsk is a city located 65 km from Krasnodar.
The embankment of Lake Kopytko is located in the lowland, so to speak, “on the lower floor of the city”. The territory is weakly connected with urban development through narrow and steep streets of the private sector. Bad communication with the city determined its deserted character, the territory is torn off and does not receive impulses for development.
Yes, the territory is isolated from the city. But is it really that bad? An alternative scenario could be the development of the territory as a separate regional park, with its own inner center and its own set of functions. The park does not work as an urban center, where all activities are located, does not require strong connections with the central part of the city, but it implies connections with all parts of the city through bus routes.
For the design of the Children's Camp for 500 students, the southern part of the territory was chosen due to its isolation from other parts. The size of the territory is 12.1 hectares. On three sides, it is limited by the water area of Lake Kopytko. The entrance to the territory is from the north side.
A feature of the design solutions is such an organization of space so that the students of this center can recover from the toxic atmosphere of modern cities with their busyness and bustle, feel the merger with nature. However, at the same time, it was important to preserve the structure of the city - the principle of "children's camp as a small city" - which has a central square, which is not just a transit zone, but also a favorite meeting place, and a developed system of smaller spaces. It is also important that children can satisfy their need not only for communication, but also for privacy.
The design was based on such simple shapes as a cube and a square. After all, they are associated with cubes, which every person played in childhood. Cubes help children at a very early age develop thinking, imagination, and motor skills, all while playing.

Project description

Taking into account all the goals set for the object, a whole complex was designed, consisting of separate volumes, different in functionality. The buildings are grouped around the main square of this small 'city of education'. “Streets”, a kind of corridors connecting educational and service blocks with residential “districts”, lead to the square.
The campus includes:
• administrative and service building;
• sports building;
• two creative buildings - dance and stage building and arts building;
• concert building;
• 4 so-called "residential areas";
• household block.
The entrance to the complex, car and bus parking are located in the northern part. Upon arrival, the students get to the camp immediately to the central square, where they are distributed among the detachments.
The administrative area is intended primarily for parents and children who arrived later than distribution. There are 2 entrances to the dining room, depending on the routes of the children. The loading of groceries, the utility block and the entrance for the kitchen workers are located from the western part of the administrative building, hidden from the eyes of the students.
The premises of the sports building include: a dressing room, a buffet, a swimming pool and a gym with separate men's and women's locker rooms, trainer and inventory rooms, a doctor's office and a water analysis laboratory, a gym with separate men's and women's locker rooms and other auxiliary facilities.
The concert building is intended for holding mass events, performances, competitions. The auditorium for 600 people is equipped with a light and video projection room, a cloakroom for visitors, a separate entrance for invited artists, two dressing rooms with a toilet and shower, and other auxiliary rooms.
The blocks of "residential areas" and creative buildings were designed in more detail.
The residential module is based on a two-storey residential building for 10 people with toilets and showers. Each of the four residential buildings has its own sanitary block and closed rooms for club activities. The project presents options for residential houses, both with a common living room and without it; both with bunk beds and single beds. Each of the residential areas is color-coded to help children navigate the campus. In the center of each of the residential areas, a common space with an amphitheater and a bonfire is provided.
The creative buildings are divided into: the arts building (for quiet activities), and the dance and stage building (for noisy activities).
The classrooms of the arts building include: a painting class, a sculpture and mosaic class, a pottery and ceramics class, a handicraft class, a video photography studio, and a tourism theory class. The classrooms of the dance and stage building include: 2 choreographic classes with separate male and female locker rooms, individual music classes, a choir and orchestra class, and a literary and drama class.
The open facade of the Children's Camp, not overloaded with bright color spots, easily interacts with nature and helps children who come to the camp for the first time to overcome embarrassment and confusion.
Thus, as a result of the work, a whole complex of buildings was designed, with many sports and creative directions, a set of various children's entertainment areas.
The project seems to be relevant for the development of the region as a whole, improving the quality of the provision of recreational services for children in the city of Ust-Labinsk and the Krasnodar Territory.
