Project idea

The concept of a pavilion, dedicated to the topic of senses. Focused on the sense of balance, is inspired by Japanese architecture and zen gardens. It is an effort to combine achitecture and nature without colliding with each other.

Project description

The idea is to take 3 rocks in various sizes from Vitosha Stone River in Sofia and bring them into South Park. Then to put them on gravel curved like waves, referencing zen garden and cover it with wooden stucture that adapts it's shape to the differences between rocks below. I wanted to achieve symbiosis of architecture and nature without interference between them. Architecture can adapt to natural shape of rocks and work with them to create coherent whole.

Technical information

Fluid form of the structure on top is ment to be compound of wooden beams curved in defined shape. Rocks beneath are the foundation of the whole structure and a main element idea point. Gravel under rocks should carry the weight of it all and resemble the relation between rocks and the basis.
