Campus STU - BRIDGE in Bratislava

Project idea

The center is located in one new building that works as BRIDGE. It connects the existing STU faculties in underground and above-ground floors. It also connects with Náměstí Svobody. It is designed so that it does not prevent trafic in the courtyard.
Existing temporary buildings and heavy laboratories in courtyard are domolished. These spaces are replaced in the new center.
The center creates conditions for cooperation of the professionals and academic environment, and to serve as an important city space for communication with public. There are space for spending leisure for students in interior and exterior.


Předmětem návrhu je jedna nová budova univerzitního centra, která funguje jako MOST. Spojuje již existující fakulty STU jak v podzemí, tak také v nadzemí. Vytváří spojení s Náměstím Svobody. Tvar budovy je navržen tak, aby nebránil pohybu lidí uvnitř bloku.
Dočasné objekty a těžké laboratoře ve vnitrobloku budou odstraněny a jejich provozy nahrazeny v novém centru.
Centrum STU vytváří podmínky pro spolupůsobení studentského prostředí s praxí a funguje jako důležitý prostředek pro komunikaci s veřejností. Je zde vytvořen prostor pro trávení volného času v interiéru i exteriéru.

Project description

It has 5 above ground floors and 2 underground floors.
There is a open communicative space - atrium in the central part of the building (communication core). A lighweight cover with a combination of transparent and clear glass is designed on the building. Object is simple and clean.
Parking and heavy duty traffic are located in the underground part of building. The first floor is partially in the field, the entrances to the building are on the second floor, too. There are canteen, library and innovative center on the lower floors and there are offices, experience center, covered terrace etc on the highest floors. Catering, space for relaxation, galleries and more are in the atrium.


Budova má 5 nadzemních a 2 podzemích podlaží.
V centrální části se nachází volný komunikační prostor - atrium (komunikační jádro). Obvodový plášť je tvořen kombinací průsvitného mléčného a čirého skla. Objekt je jednoduchý a čistý.
Parkování a těžké hlučné provozy se nachází v podzemí. Nástupní podlaží je částečně v terénu, budova je tedy zpřístupněna také z 2NP. Ve vyšším podlaží je jídelna, knihovna a inovační centrum a nejvýše jsou umístěny kanceláře, zážitkové centru, krytá terasa atd. Občerstvení, relaxační zóny, galerie a další se vyskytují v atriu.

Technical information

Because of the large hight difference there is designed a field break. It is also desired to open existing entrances to the courtyard and create new entrances from the faculties. There is a square in front of the building and there are also fixed areas and parks.
The support system of the object is a reiforced concrete skeleton system with drawings. The object has two communication strenghening core. Overcoming a large spange is solved using compartment steel structures. The roof is green.


Kvůli velkému výškovému rozdílu uvnitř bloku je zde navržen terénní zlom a několik schodišť.
Je také žádoucí otevřít stávající (uzavřené) průchody do vnitrobloku a vytvořit nové vstupy z fakult do bloku. Před budovou centra je navrženo náměstí a taktéž volné plochy a parková úprava.
Jako nosný systém je navržen železobetonový skelet s obousměrnými průvlaky. Objekt má 2 komunikační centra. Velké rozpony jsou řešeny ocelovými příhradovými nosníky. Střecha je zelená.
