Project idea

The concept is based on the idea of connecting the campus with its surroundings on two levels. Within the ground level, red ribbons located in the STU’s surroundings represent lines that lead you directly into the campus. The underpass at Liberty Square also helps to better connect the campus with its surroundings. In the second level, the ribbons connect all three faculties in the form of footbridges. The colorful ribbons then penetrate into the building itself, where they guide you through all its parts. Everything is complemented by urban furniture in the color of the ribbons.

The mass of the building itself is meant to evoke stacked books, reflecting the primary goal of the university.

Project description

The transformed campus of STU is located in the heart of Bratislava. The aim of the project is to create an innovation centre with facilities for students, including the revitalization of the campus.

Technical information

To improve usability, the top two floors of the building were added and part of the roof was converted into a terrace. The terrace extending over two floors offers a view of Bratislava and space for various events. The Rector's Office is located in the left tower and is accessible from its own entrance. The skeletal structural system of the building follows the existing one, but on the upper floors it is reduced due to the layout.
