The project is collocated in a strategic area between the ancient city “Tergeste”, characterized by typological medioeval constructions, and the modern city of Trieste, modified by the twentieth-century disembowelments; the site had felt as a urban empty by the citizen.
The aims of the project are the regeneration and the reconnection of these city’s fragments by placing new forms that follow the historical constructions.
The project is composed by a flat “basamento” and a vertical “lama” which are collocated around the square, the core of the building.
In the “basamento” are located the pubblic spaces like an auditorium, a museum with a little restaurant, a library, pubblic offices and also the entrance to the minimal appartments wich are located in the “lama”.
The building is made of an iron structure composed by column and beams.
The structure, following the Mies Van der Rohe idea, is coated by an “architectural alluminum skin” consisting of a several sticks with the funcion of brise soleil.
