State of the art ‘Airport’ as a transportation hub for a city like NEOM facilitating its ever growing needs.

Project description

An airport is an important component of modern world infrastructure; it works as a gateway between the countries and within the cities. Global air travel has become a common need in modern times with the constant growth around the world. Airports are significant source of generating revenues. NEOM is a planned cross-border city in the province of northwestern Saudi Arabia. It is planned to incorporate smart city technologies and also function as a tourist destination. NEOM has been blessed with the sea port that has potential to do wonders, NEOM will fast become the international trade hub, to meet the air travel demands NEOM should have an international standard airport facility, highly developed infrastructure to handle passenger movements and freight.

The movement of passengers, aircraft, baggage and cargo airplanes, serving vehicle and equipment, land and air side facilities are very important in airport planning, airside and landside facilities includes runways, taxiways, parking areas for both aircraft and passenger vehicles.

A new city like NEOM requires an international airport, which will ensure swift access and mobility for citizens as well as foreign traffic. This airport will provide modern facilities to maximize passenger comfort and minimize security risks, with the special considerations to make it an international hub.

NEOM international airport will be the one of the largest airports in the world; it is expected to accommodate 20 million passengers by year 2030. The airport’s design is pioneering and it is planned to incorporate smart city technologies and also function as a tourist destination.
