The main idea of the "Peninsula in Holesovice" project, was to find the connection between housing and nature. I was inspired by the construction, where the architectural idea was a building, with an open area in it, through which you can see the landscape of the nature.
The concept is to create a composition with geometric shapes, that would focus the viewer's attention to landscape through the structure.
The chosen territory for my project is the district Holešovice. Which located in the north of Prague situated on a meander of the River Vltava, which makes up the main part of the district Prague 7. Holešovice was a heavily industrial suburb in the past. Today it is home to the main site of Prague's National Gallery, National Technical Museum, and so on.
So the territory is perfect for such concept. There is a compound between landscape, industrial past of the district, and technological progress of the future, that has to be corresponded with the concept idea.
The implementation of this idea was made by creating a model using geometric forms, creation of a volumetric-spatial composition, in search of the best view. To highlight the post-industrial landscape of a peninsula, four of the existing buildings stay almost unchanged, saving the original facades (white buildings in the model). There are making a contrast to new modern buildings, as a result, creating more interesting composition and keeping the memory of the industrial function of the peninsula in the past.
The buildings are connected by long passages and vertical communications, imitating an alley in nature landscape. The road runs around the peninsula and gives access to all buildings of the complex. This makes it possible to locate the pedestrian zone and the bike path in the center area of the peninsula.
The complex is located on a large area relative to the area of the peninsula itself and lies at a certain distance from the city district. This makes the location look different from the urban area, allowing to create a large green area in the center. Which makes a great expression of the concept of this project.
