The aim of the work was to find a place for urban greenery and to develop a design for this greenery. The city of Brno has only a limited possibility to increase the amount of green space. The solution is offered by the ongoing reurbanisation, which brings with it a number of projects on the sites of former industrial areas and brownfields. Among them is the relocation of the Main Railway Station, which will create unused space along the current railway line.

In parallel with the ongoing changes, the city of Brno, under the leadership of KAM (the Office of the Architect of the City of Brno), is working on a new form of zoning plan, which, among other things, includes the redistribution of urban greenery and already takes into account the free zone created by the absence of the railway line leading to the current Main Station. The tendencies for a green belt are also reflected in the study of the Špitálka district. In contrast, the office centre in Dornych by Crestyl does not respond to this fact and the new master plan does not envisage a deeper meaning of this open space either. Yet this is a unique opportunity to transform the former railway into a park corridor linking the two rivers, thus addressing many of the shortcomings of the lack of green space and as a means of communication.

For this reason, we have created a project to unify this corridor in one study to highlight the potential of the site and to avoid unintentional heterogeneity or outright disruption of the corridor over the course of sub-projects.

The Highline project in New York City, which was also created by revitalising a former railway line and has become a significant phenomenon here, can serve as a model.

Cílem práce bylo najít místo pro městskou zeleň a vypracovat vlastní návrh této zeleně. Město Brno má jen omezenou možnost navýšit množství zeleně. Řešení se nabízí díky probíhající reurbanizací, která s sebou přináší množství projektů na místa bývalých průmyslových oblastí a brownfieldů. mezi kterými je i přesun Hlavního nádraží, čímž vznikne nevyužitý prostor po současné železniční trati.

Souběžně s probíhajícími změnami město Brno pod vedením KAM (Kancelář architekta města Brna) pracuje na nové podobě územního plánu, který mimo jiného zahrnuje i přerozdělení městské zeleně a již počítá s volným pásem vzniklým absencí železnice vedoucí na současné Hlavní nádraží. Tendence na zelený pás se projevily i na studii čtvrti Špitálka. Naproti tomu administrativní centrum na Dornychu od společnosti Crestyl na tuto skutečnost nijak nereaguje a ani v nově vznikajícím územním plánu se nepočítá s hlubším významem tohoto volného prostoru. Přitom se jedná o jedinečnou příležitost proměny bývalé železnice v parkový koridor propojující obě řeky a řešící tak mnoho nedostatků jak s chybějící zelení, tak jako komunikační prostředek.

Z tohoto důvodu jsme vytvořili projekt sjednocující tento koridor v jedné studii, abychom poukázali na potenciál místa a nedošlo tak v průběhu dílčích projektů k jeho nevědomé nestejnorodosti nebo přímo jeho narušení.

Vzorem může být obdobná realizace projektu Highline v New Yorku, který taktéž vznikl revitalizací bývalé železniční trati a stal se zde významným fenoménem.
