CULTURAL HOUSE IN VYSKOV: BETWEEN THE HALLS

The subject of the selected competition assignment in Vyškov is the architectural design of a new building of the House of Culture with a large and a small hall, sufficient foyer for each of them, facilities for employees and a commercial parterre, including the entrance area and the adjacent surroundings as a public space. The building will be located on municipal land in the centre of Vyškov, between Zámecká, Pivovarská, Dobrovského and Dvořákova Streets; the specific urban design is subject to competition. The design must sufficiently articulate its importance to the city and its urban structure, not only as a new cultural centre, but also as a new "gateway" to the city centre.

The aim of the project was to comply with the defined competition brief and at the same time to create a cultural centre that will not only function as a space for cultural and social events for the inhabitants of the city and its surroundings, but also as a space where they can meet each other and spend time in their everyday lives. This idea is the main concept behind both the building itself and its surroundings. It seeks to add the building of the community centre to the existing urban space and open it up to it from multiple sides. In order to achieve such a complement, one new block has been added as part of the urban concept, which is not directly related to the cultural centre in terms of operation, but which helps to create a new public space (courtyard) - a small square.

The central idea of the whole building concept is then to complement the specified programme
by adding another hall - the so-called Outdoor Hall, which will form a single unit together with the two indoor halls. Each of the halls has a different character and a different atmosphere. They differ from each other in terms of access, overall size, height, materials and function. However, they are all interconnected (whether by the foyer or the outside corridor - the arcade) and define each other. In particular, the space of the outdoor hall is directly bounded and defined by the large and small indoor halls. It thus becomes a place not only for cultural
and social events, but also a public space. At the same time, its auditorium does not only serve as a seating area for the audience, but also as a seating area outside cultural events and as a staircase that leads the visitor to the other two halls. All three halls are bordered by an arcade (outdoor corridor) on the side of the square, which both connects them and imaginatively separates them from the public space of the courtyard. The positions of the individual halls were determined so that their height relates to the surrounding buildings.

Předmětem vybraného soutěžního zadání ve Vyškově je architektonické řešení novostavby Kulturního domu s velkým a malým sálem, dostatečným foyer pro každý z nich, zázemím pro zaměstnance a obchodním parterem, včetně nástupního prostoru a přilehlého okolí jakožto veřejného prostranství. Objekt bude umístěn na městských pozemcích v centru Vyškova, mezi ulicemi Zámecká, Pivovarská, Dobrovského a Dvořákova, konkrétní urbanistické řešení je předmětem soutěže. Návrh musí dostatečně důstojně artikulovat svůj význam pro město a jeho urbánní strukturu, a to nejen jako nové kulturní středisko, ale také jako nová „brána“ do centra města.

Cílem projektu bylo dodržet definované soutěžní zadání a zároveň vytvořit takový kulturní dům, který nebude pro obyvatele města a jeho okolí fungovat jen jako prostor pro kulturní a společenské akce, ale také jako prostor, kde mají možnost se navzájem setkávat a trávit zde čas ve svém každodenním životě. Z této myšlenky vychází hlavní koncept jak budovy samotné, tak i jejího okolí. Snaží se objekt kulturního domu doplnit do stávajícího městského prostoru a otevřít jej k němu z více stran. Aby došlo k takovému doplnění, byl v rámci urbanistického konceptu přidán jeden nový blok, který provozně přímo nesouvisí s kulturním domem, ale pomáhá spolu s ním vytvořit nový veřejný prostor (vnitroblok) - náměstíčko.

Ústřední myšlenkou celého konceptu budovy je potom doplnění zadaného programu
o další sál – tzv. Venkovní sál, který bude společně se dvěma vnitřními sály tvořit jeden celek. Každý ze sálů má jiný charakter a jinou atmosféru. Liší se od sebe jak přístupem k nim, celkovou jejich velikostí, výškou, materiály, tak i funkcí. Všechny jsou však vzájemně propojeny (ať už foyer či venkovní chodbou - arkádou) a navzájem se definují. Zejména prostor venkovního sálu je přímo ohraničený a definovaný velkým a malým vnitřním sálem. Stává se z něj tak místo určené nejen pro kulturní
a společenské akce, ale také veřejný prostor. Jeho hlediště zároveň nemá funkci pouze pro usazení diváků, ale také jako mobiliář k posezení mimo kulturní akce a jako schodiště, které návštěvníka zavede do zbylých dvou sálů. Všechny tři sály jsou ze strany u náměstíčka ohraničeny arkádou (venkovní chodbou), která je současně propojuje i pomyslně odděluje od veřejného prostoru vnitrobloku. Polohy jednotlivých sálů byly určeny tak, aby jejich výška navazovala na okolní zástavbu.
