Proposal for the conversion of the former textile factory of Alois Larisch in Krnov
The project is led by the Krnov city administration and the Institute of Heritage Protection. The site has been the subject of a number of surveys and proposals in the past due to the importance of the monument and its location. The town of Krnov has been focused on weaving and textile production since its beginnings and was even called the Manchester of Silesia in the first half of the 20th century. The factory of Alois Larisch and Sons was one of the largest enterprises in the town. During the communist era it was nationalised and merged with others under the Karnola company. Since 1989, however, it has been abandoned and dilapidated. However, its buildings are part of the historic centre of the town and each of the original buildings is in need of a new use.
Our brief was to design apartments, offices, a creative centre for the public and a textile museum into the original buildings to commemorate the rich history of the site. Everything historic needed to be renovated and the new function needed to breathe life back into the place.
The main idea behind this conversion proposal is to create a vibrant neighbourhood for the residents of Krnov, but also a place that will attract tourists with local history. The connecting element of the building will be a park with walkways and small squares in front of the entrances to the buildings, which will connect to the already existing urban pedestrian zones in the area, such as the square, the park at the neighbouring mansion and the villas that now belong to the bank. Parking lots are proposed at several locations on the site to allow motor vehicles to park and walk through the park to wherever they need to go, or parking spaces right next to the apartment building added for easy accessibility.
I have looked in detail at the design of the apartment building, which would be in the former fabric warehouse building adjacent to the main road. It is a five-storey basement building, into which I have proposed nine flats with generous floor space. I have accentuated the new entrance from the atrium between the three main buildings with full height glazing that will allow unique views from the corridors of all floors into the green space. On each floor there is a central corridor with a staircase, an elevator and from which two entrances lead to symmetrical 3+KK units with two bathrooms and a toilet. The living rooms are oriented south towards the road, behind which a water canal flows, further behind another historic textile factory.
Many architectural firms have already been commissioned and have come up with a great vision. In 2007 one of the designs was realised and a textile museum was to be opened here with original machines, patterns, tools and fabric samples, but unfortunately it burnt down and most of the valuables were damaged. The original proposal would now be very expensive. The city is looking for new ideas for a low budget solution for the site. Future reuse is planned with this building, which will give the city a source of funding and elevate its tradition and reputation. The project will be presented at the Krnov Town Hall to the leadership headed by Mayor Tomas Hradil.

Návrh konverze areálu bývalé textilní továrny Aloise Larische v Krnově
Aktérem tohoto projektu je vedení města Krnov a Ústav památkové péče. Na areál v minulosti vznikla řada průzkumů a také návrhů vzhledem k důležitosti památky a její lokace. Město Krnov bylo od svých počátků zaměřeno na tkalcovství a textilní výrobu, v první polovině 20. století bylo dokonce nazýváno slezským Manchesterem. Továrna Alois Larisch a synové byla ve městě jedním z největších podniků. V době komunismu byla pak znárodněna a spojena s dalšími pod firmu Karnola. Od roku 1989 je však opuštěná a chátrá. Její budovy jsou ovšem součástí historického centra města a každá z původních budov si žádá nové využití.
Naším úkolem bylo do původních budov navrhnout byty, kanceláře, kreativní centrum pro veřejnost a muzeum textilu, které by připomínalo bohatou historii místa. Vše historické je potřeba zrenovovat a novou funkcí vdechnout místu opět život.
Hlavní myšlenkou tohoto návrhu konverze je vytvoření pulzující čtvrti pro obyvatele Krnova, ale i místo, které přitáhne turisty s místní historií. Spojovacím prvkem objektu bude park s chodníčky a malými náměstími před vstupy do budov, který se připojí na již existující městské pěší zóny v okolí jako je náměstí, park u sousedícího zámečku a vily, jež nyní náležící bance. Na několika místech areálu jsou navržena parkoviště, kde je umožněno odstavit motorová vozidla a pěšky dojít parkem, kam je potřeba, nebo parkovací místa hned u bytového domu doplněná pro snadnou dostupnost.
Podrobně jsem se věnovala návrhu bytového domu, který by měl být v budově bývalého skladu látek přilehlému hlavní cestě. Jedná se o pětipodlažní podsklepený dům, do kterého jsem navrhla devět bytů s bohatou výměrou. Nový vstup z atria mezi třemi hlavními budovami jsem zvýraznila prosklením po celé výšce budovy, které umožní jedinečné výhledy z chodeb všech pater do zeleně. Na každém patře je centrální chodba se schodištěm, výtahem a ze které vedou dva vstupy do symetrických bytových jednotek 3+KK se dvěma koupelnami a WC. Obytné pokoje jsou orientovány na jih k cestě, za kterou teče vodní kanál, dále za ním stojí další historická továrna na textil.
Zadání se již věnovalo mnoho architektonických firem, které přišly se skvělou vizí. V roce 2007 byl jeden z návrhů uskutečněn a mělo se zde otevřít muzeum textilu s původními stroji, šablonami, nástroji a vzorky látek, bohužel však vyhořelo a většina cenností byla poškozena. Původní návrh by nyní byl velmi nákladný. Město hledá nové nápady na řešení areálu s nízkonákladovým rozpočtem. S tímto objektem je do budoucna naplánováno opětovné využívání, které dá městu zdroj financí a pozdvihne jeho tradici a věhlas. Projekt bude prezentován ve městě Krnov na radnici před vedením v čele se starostou Tomášem Hradilem.
