COVERED PLATFORM AKA CAFÉ IN ALDERS
BACKGROUND
The assignment was the architectural design of a new café in the area of Olše in the cadastral area of Červenky, a village located in the Olomouc Region, 20 km north of Olomouc. The aim of the design was to revitalise these public spaces, which are underused during everyday life.
LOCATION
The place has been close to my heart since childhood, but I have always perceived it as an abandoned and underused space, despite its great potential and possibilities for enjoyment.
CONCEPT
The shape of the building was inspired by the very shape of the area to which the café is oriented. It is a place frequented mainly in summer - many events take place here, such as the celebration of the village anniversary, the feast, the Vatra or the summer cinema. However, during bad weather there is no place/shelter from the rain - that is why the terrace is COVERED. The PLATFORM creates a pleasant informal seating area for all visitors to the site by raising it above the ground. The black steel columns may evoke tree trunks (such as the tall Alder trees that gave the name to the site itself), which also rise above the roofs of the buildings.
The predominance of the exterior (outdoor seating) over the interior (indoor seating) has also become a prominent feature of the concept, precisely to enliven the outdoor environment and provide ample seating during events. The building, which is designed as a wooden building, is deliberately oriented with its back to the shop located behind the Cerlinka stream and screened from the existing car park by the insertion of a staff core. The open relationship to the existing road (thanks to the large glazing at the front of the café), which runs through the entire site, and the relationship to the stage and dance floor, which are very visible from the café terrace, are important. Thanks to the shape of the platform, there is also a semicircular space replacing the missing pavement and representing a meeting place for citizens. The roof of the café had to be separated from the green roof of the café building in order to lighten the platform and lighten the whole space.
VARIATION
In the case of the first version, I aimed for the minimum number of columns to support both the café roof and the large area of the terrace roof - which was to be as thin as possible, hence the use of reinforced concrete. The second version of the roof was developed as a cheaper and more feasible alternative for local conditions and used a timber space frame combined with much thinner steel columns for its construction. Because of this material solution, the shape of the roof was simplified and the roof was completely separated from the café by each roof being independently supported by its own structural system.

KRYTÁ PLATFORMA ALIAS KAVÁRNA V OLŠÍCH
ZADÁNÍ
Zadáním bylo architektonické zpracování nové kavárny v areálu Olše v katastrální území obce Červenky, což je obec nacházející se v Olomouckém kraji, 20 km severně od Olomouce. Cílem návrhu bylo oživení těchto – během všedních dní nedostatečně využívaných – veřejných prostor.
MÍSTO
Místo mi bylo blízké už od dětství, vnímala jsem ho vždy však jako prostor opuštěný a málo využívaný navzdory jeho velkému potenciálu a možnostem vyžití.
KONCEPT
Inspirací tvaru budovy se stal samotný tvar areálu, do kterého je kavárna orientována. Jde o místo, navštěvované především v létě – koná se zde mnoho akcí jako například oslavy výročí obce, hodová zábava, Vatra nebo letní kino. Během nepříznivého počasí zde však chybí místo/úkryt před deštěm – proto je terasa KRYTÁ. PLATFORMA vytváří příjemné neformální posezení pro všechny návštěvníky areálu díky vyzvednutí nad terén. Černé ocelové sloupy mohou evokovat kmeny stromů (například vysokých Olší, jež daly název samotnému areálu), které též vystupují nad střechy budov.
Význačným bodem konceptu se stala i převaha exteriéru (venkovního posezení) nad interiérem (sezení uvnitř), právě za účelem oživení venkovního prostředí a dostatku míst k sezení během akcí. Objekt, jenž je řešen jako dřevostavba, je záměrně orientován zády k obchodu, nacházejícího se za potokem Čerlinkou a odstíněn od stávajícího parkoviště vložením jádra personálu. Důležité jsou naopak otevřené vazby ke stávající cestě (díky velkoplošnému prosklení přední strany kavárny), která prochází celým areálem, vztah k podiu a parketu, na něž je z terasy kavárny velmi dobře vidět. Díky tvaru platformy zde vznikl i půlkruhové prostranství suplující chybějící náves a představující místo pro setkávání občanů. Střechu kavárny bylo třeba oddělit od zelené střechy budovy kavárny, aby tak došlo k prosvětlení platformy a k odlehčení celého prostoru.
VARIACE
V případě první verze jsem se snažila o minimální počet sloupů, které by podpíraly jak střechu kavárny, tak velkou plochu střechy terasy – jež měla mít co nejmenší tloušťku, a proto byl na ni užit železobeton. Druhá verze střechy vznikla jako levnější a schůdnější alternativa pro místní podmínky a na její konstrukci byl využit dřevěný prostorový rám v kombinaci s mnohem tenčími ocelovými sloupky. Kvůli tomuto materiálovému řešení byl zjednodušen tvar střechy a došlo k jejímu naprostému oddělení od kavárny tím, že každá střecha je samostatně podepřena svým konstrukčním systémem.
