Given that when we mention nursing homes people often imagine places like hospitals, care, or medication, as a concept of this project development I have selected medication as an integral part of elderly people but certainly not very desirable.
The development of the concept starts with medicines, respectively with the weekly pill organizer, which is composed of several boxes joined to each other, and that is used to create the housing/ living units.
The “classic house” form will be followed in the facades of the building, creating a feeling of comfort, coziness, and friendly familiar warmth, simultaneously offering a stable, coherent, and functional living environment.
Creating a friendly familiar warmth and a feeling of comfort, coziness is the main goal of this project. The residents have different recreational areas that they can use, the swimming pool in the basement, reading a book or listening to music on the 1st floor, or just playing with others are just a few to name. The building contains different typologies of rooms where the residents have the option to choose between different spacious areas and bedrooms with one, two beds, or apartments.
This building is B+P+4 with a structural construction system.
- The basement is destined for a recreational area (swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, treadmills), laundry room, storage, and mortuary.
- The ground floor has three separate entrances and includes the main lobby, the space for security, ambulance, administration, and a universal store.
- The 1st floor is destined for the restaurant and recreational areas ( library/ reading, workshops for professional activities, painting, sculpture, drawing music lounge, games, tv areas, etc.)
- The characteristic floor is destined for residence, includes different typologies of rooms, and also contains a maintenance depot, seating/ waiting area, and a common recreational space.
- The rooftop is destined for a common relaxing area meanwhile serves as a waiting zone and a meeting point between the familiars and the residents.
