Since the site is a typical inner-city block enclosed from three sides, the idea was to bring a light into the interior through two atriums and a backyard with areas that could be used while taking a break from work. Another challenge was a fire escape that has to be located inside of a building; however, behind the front facade. The angle of the front facade is supposed to let the winter sun come into the building, but block the strong Australian summer sun to overheat the building.
