Project idea

Projekt pod názvem "Božská ženskost" měl za cíl vytvořit takový objekt Krajské porodnice ve Zlíně, který by ve svém formálním, vizuálním a provozním řešení odrážel nejen cyklicitu těhotenství a života, ale také veškeré pozitivní atributy, které jsou spojeny s ideou posvátného ženství.

The project called "Divine Femininity" aimed to create such a building of the Regional Maternity Hospital in Zlín, which in its formal, visual and operational solution would reflect not only the cyclicity of pregnancy and life but also all the positive attributes associated with the idea of sacred femininity.

Project description

CYKLICITA
Celým návrhem prostupuje motiv cyklicity, který je nejzřetelněji vyjádřen pomocí centrálního kruhového atria, okolo kterého jsou ovinuty čtyři vertikální objemy, přičemž každý z nich má za úkol reprezentovat konkrétní fázi těhotenství.

RAJSKÁ ZAHRADA
Čtvercová platforma s kruhovým atriem neslouží pouze jako společný základ hlavních objektů, ale také jako přepis “rajské zahrady”, jejíž podoba je umocněna středově umístěným stromem. Rajská zahrada je v křesťanské literatuře a umění symbolem bezpečného útočiště, obdobnou funkci má i v projektu nové Krajské porodnice, kde slouží jako oáza klidu pro nejen pro pacienty a jejich novorozence, ale také pro personál a návštěvy. Centrální atrium, do kterého ústí společenské místnosti jednotlivých lůžkových oddělení má také slouží k posílení pocitu komunity mezi pacientkami.

JÁDRA
V souvislosti s centrálním kruhovým atriem vyvstávají kromě výhod i problémy, a to především v podobě komplikované orientace v prostoru, který neobsahuje téměř žádné rohy. I přesto, že je v každé diagonále čtvercové platformy umístěn jeden blok, bylo třeba orientaci napříč budovou umocnit ještě dalším prvkem - rozdílně tvarovanými centrálními jádry.

FASÁDY
Nový objekt porodnice využívá tří principů fasád. I přesto, že je čtvercová platforma s kruhovým atriem těžištěm projektu, je opláštěna nejsubtilnější fasádou, překlady nad okny, jež vynáší stropní desky, a tudíž i objekty nad samotným atriem, jsou ztvárněny tektonicky. Tímto způsobem dochází jasnému, avšak jemnému propisu tíhy proudící z objektů nad platformou.

Nejvýraznější řešení patří ubytovacím a administrativním blokům, kde byly fasády opatřeny nejen ochozy s balkóny a místem k posezení, ale také stínícími prvky. Těmi jsou exteriérové plachty ve tvaru girland, které jsou zavěšeny mezi subtilními ocelovými sloupky kruhového průřezu. Girlandy fasády výrazně odlehčují a spolu se zakřivením střechy zvýrazňují jejich eleganci. Obloukový průvěs je také přepisem již dříve zmíněného kruhového motivu.

Poslední princip patří vyšetřovacímu bloku s operačními a porodními sály. Jelikož se jedná o nejserióznější provoz v celé porodnici, fasáda tohoto bloku působí nejhmotněji. Horizontály, které se objevují na ostatních objektech v podobě subtilních balkónových ochozů jsou na porodním křídle několikanásobně zvýrazněny hmotou parapetů a překladů nad pásovými okny.

PROVOZ
Provozně je návrh rozdělen do několika celků, jak ostatně napovídá formální a tvarové řešení budovy. Jednotlivá oddělení jsou umístěna do samostatných bloků, které vyčnívají nad čtvercovou platformu s atriem, která slouží jako velký otevřený společenský prostor pro relaxaci a setkávání. Pro zlepšení cirkulace rodiček, novorozenců i zdravotnického materiálu je druhé patro čtvercové platformy částečně odděleno, uzavřeno a určeno jen k rychlému přesunu napříč odděleními. Veškeré technické zázemí a parkování pro návštěvy i zaměstnance se nachází v prvním podzemním patře.

SITUACE
Na pozemku je objekt nové Krajské nemocnice umístěn tak, aby došlo k ideální orientaci jednotlivých oddělení. Zatímco lůžková oddělení jsou umístěna v blízkosti klidného lesa, blok s operačními sály a vyšetřovnami je směřován na sever pozemku, tak aby došlo k jasné hierarchizaci dopravy a bylo zamezeno míchání provozů. Administrativní blok je situován na východ, k silnici křižující areál Baťovy nemocnice, kde je umístěn i vstup a parkování pro personál.

CYCLICITY
The whole design is progressing by the motive of cyclicity, which is expressed using a central circular atrium, around which four vertical volumes are wrapped, each of which has the task of representing a specific stage of pregnancy.

GARDEN OF EDEN
The square platform with a circular atrium serves not only as a common basis for the main buildings but also as a transcript of the "paradise garden", the appearance of which is enhanced by a centrally located tree. The Garden of Eden is a symbol of heaven in Christian literature and art and has a similar function in the project of the new Regional Maternity Hospital, where it serves as an oasis of calm not only for patients and their newborns but also for staff and visitors. The central atrium, into which the common rooms of the individual wards open, also serves to strengthen the sense of community among the patients.

FACADES
The new maternity hospital building uses three principles of facades. Even though the square platform with a circular atrium is the centre of gravity of the project, it is sheathed with the most subtle facade, the lintels above the windows that support the ceiling panels, and therefore the objects above the atrium itself, are tectonic. In this way, there is a clear but subtle description of the weight flowing from the objects above the platform.

The most prominent solution belongs to the accommodation and administrative blocks, where the facades were equipped not only with galleries with balconies and a place to sit but also with shading elements. These are exterior tarpaulins in the shape of garlands, which are suspended between subtle steel posts of circular cross-section. Garlands of the facade significantly lighten and together with the curvature of the roof emphasize their elegance. The arch sag is also a transcript of the previously mentioned circular motive.
The last principle belongs to the examination block with operating and delivery rooms. As this is the most important operation in the entire maternity hospital, the facade of this block has the most massive effect. The horizontals that appear on other buildings in the form of subtle balcony galleries are highlighted several times on the maternity wing by the mass of window sills and lintels above the sash windows.

BUILDING OPERATION
Operationally, the design is divided into several units, as the formal and shape solution of the building suggests. The individual departments are divided into separate blocks that protrude above a square platform with an atrium, which serves as a large open social space for relaxation and meetings. To improve the circulation of mothers, newborns and medical supplies, the second floor of the square platform is partially separated, closed and intended only for rapid movement across the wards.
All technical facilities and parking for visitors and employees are placed on the first underground floor.

PROJECT MASTERPLAN
The building of the new Regional Hospital is located on the plot to ensure the ideal orientation of individual departments. The wards are located near a quiet forest, the block with operating rooms and examination rooms is directed to the north of the plot so that there is a clear hierarchy of traffic and to avoid mixing operations. The administrative block is situated to the east, to the road crossing the area of Baťa Hospital, where there is also an entrance and parking for staff.

Technical information

Řešení nového objektu Krajské porodnice ve Zlíně vyžadovalo komplexní technické a provozní řešení. Komplikací v procesu projektování byly především složité hygienické, normativní a bezpečností požadavky na veškeré porodnice a operační provozy.

Finální projekt obsahuje kompletní výkresovou dokumentaci čítající schwarzplan, situaci s dopravním řešením parcely, půdorysy všech pater, pohled ze všech světových stran, detailní příčný řez celým objektem a detailní axonometrické zobrazení exteriéru.

Na vizualizacích jsou zobrazeny přední atributy návrhu - tvarové řešení s pohledem do centrálního kruhového atria a fasáda ubytovacího bloku s textilními girlandami. Vytvořena byla i komplexní kolážová axonometrie celého objektu a dílčí vizualizace zobrazující proměnlivé tvary komunikačních jader.

The solution of the new building of the Regional Maternity Hospital in Zlín required a complex technical and operational solution. Complications in the design process were mainly complex hygienic, normative and safety requirements for all maternity hospitals and surgical operations.

The final project contains complete drawing documentation including the schwarzplan, the situation with the transport solution of the plot, floor plans of all floors, a view from all over the world, a detailed cross-section of the whole building and a detailed axonometric view of the exterior.

The visualizations show the leading attributes of the design - the shape solution with a view of the central circular atrium and the facade of the accommodation block with textile garlands. A complex collage axonometry of the whole object and a partial visualization showing the changing shapes of communication cores were also created.
