Project idea

Create a cultural hub that serves the entire community of Uagadugu. Reuse existing volumes, maintaining the scale of the whole and its relationship with the context. At the urban level, enhance existing functions, such as vegetable gardens. In addition to proposing sports and recreational activities.

Project description

The project has two large areas linked by a large pedestrian circulation that serves as access to the complex. Each sector is made up of earth slopes that contain grouped volumes. In turn, the slopes support a three-dimensional mesh that develops throughout the whole, giving cohesion to the project. Horizontality is generated by camouflaging the whole, allowing the existing volumes to stand out as milestones in the urban context.

Technical information

Materials and construction techniques typical of the place are used, where earth and brick are the protagonists.
