The new amphitheater combines the form of the classical roman ampitheater with its arches and open views of the sky with the needs of a modern stage production.
The big open Lobbies to the south and east side give the building a openness, while still providing the protection from the weather that one is looking for in a building. They are also home to a small café. The changing rooms are located in the north, flanking the stage. Above them there are rooms for education and training. The first floor also has a open galery wich can be reached through a grand staircase in the southern corner of the building, where the two lobbies meet. This staircase also leads up tho the rooftop, where two of the four entrances to the theatre are located. The rooftop provides aditional of space to host any number of events and exibitions.
The rooftop is designed to collect rain water and store them in tanks. The collection of rainwater also makes a green roof on the rooftop possible.
To ensure the lobbies always stay cool they use natural cooling techniques. The high rooms allow warm air to escape, while letting cool air come in. Shaders ensure the sunlight doesn't heat up the interior without blocking out all the light.
