Project idea

The aim of the project is to extend a current Young technicians' building by adding a brand new west wing. Young technicians' building is one of seven departments in The Youth Center. We are talking about an outstanding place, which is necessary for young children’ s free time. Beside a long tradition of modeling field, other technical and scientific fields are being formed by a modern education system.

The main purpose of the project is to create a comfort environment and a efficient space for various activities. The importat factor is a sufficient sunlight and providing a simple and well- arranged disposition. Our main priority is the interier and the functionable service. My inspiration comes from LEGO kits and the place itself. Due to bright colors on the original building, for the extension I have chosen the lighter ones with massive details such as window frames and a staircase.

Project description

Prague 6 is located only 10 minutes far from the city center and is connected via metro. The land lies on Pod Juliskou street, in the north of Winning square. In the neighborhood there are campuses of few universities, Juliska sport stadium, a city park Baba or a ZOO. The place is connected with the city by all means of public transport such as buses, trams and the metro.

Technical information

The outbuilding with four aboveground floors and one underground floor has two entries. Overall we can find eight classrooms on acreage 30-45 square meters and a common room for teachers. We have not forgotten a wheelchair acces and a connection with the original building. We also plan to move a parking lot to a very edge of the land and to extend a playground for kids.

The outbuilding is solved by combined support system. Reainforced concrete columns are the main support system and they bear a beam from the very same material. There is a wall designed in the hygienic area, also made from reinforced concrete. The facade is built from silicate blocks and has its own heat insulation. There are column bases designed to the lower construction. The ceilings are considered as cross stretched boards.
