The project started with the thought of relationship between choreography and architecture. Choreography are one of the form of art that contain movement. Architecture are where the movement take place. We found that architecture in Burkina Faso mainly use earth blocks as it main material. That's where the idea came : the further relation between earth, art, and architecture. We want to create an architecture choreography, a guided sequences of spatial experiences through building compositions.
There is a desirable issues about this project to be a catalyst of change and change construction pattern. We decided to go with curved massing in order to solved both issues. The form itself are standout, different, yet with the earth blocks material, it still have the Burkina Faso identity and locality. The flow of the new building consider the existing, without too many demolition of existing Green Amphitheater. Instead, we emphasize the existing vegetation to support the concept of natural elements. We separate the Labo, Work, and Show area based on existing conditions. The circulations are create so the visitor could feel the spatial experiences between natural elements and building thoroughly.
The building materials are mainly easy to found since it is a local source. The wall use earth blocks, with a wooden bouven and metal roof. Building height designed to consider the heat of Burkina Faso. This building use a simple logic of cross ventilation. With a wide open terrace to overcome the hot air that will enter the building.
