Project idea

The Architecture of Burkina Faso is tied to its landscape and reimagining of the traditional materials and techniques. The site given is a place for the people of the arts. So the creation of an artistic environment with the landscape and buildings will boost the energies of the people of arts.

Project description

The art of Sustainable Rehabilitation will make the design more responsive, adaptable, ties to its surrounding context. Sustainable strategies like passive techniques, use of renewable energies, green building materials, stormwater harvesting, and native landscaping are taken as the principles of designing which can bring the knowledge of sustainability and make discussions among the people of the society which helps in the development for a better architecture.
site planning_ creating a nucleus point in the site which controls and connects everything in the site and acts as a sense of direction/guide is the main idea of site planning.
women empowerment is one main objective of the design_ the labo/training area is finished with the paintings of women artists which encourages more girls to train and make their lives in the society.

Technical information

The use of local sustainable materials like wood, bamboo, steel, mud walls, straw, natural stone for cladding, and paving. The sustainable techniques used for design development were mentioned in the presentation. The addition of trees to the site encourages the microclimate of the site also helps the water-retaining capacity of the soil. The landscape used is very native to the context. The retaining walls of the amphitheater are done in concrete.
