Project idea

MRID is an initiative by MS University of Baroda to have an educational institute similar to NID. Total site area is 5975 sq. mts. and it has a small heritage structure(200 sq.mts.) at very heart of site which was used as PRO-VC’s bungalow. Also the site is well populated with trees which are ages old. Our main idea is to conserve these trees and the heritage building. We planned all other spaces around the old building with certain punctures so that one gets the glimpses of the heritage building. It now houses teachers area which we believe is heart of any Institution. The physical plan of the campus is such that it encourages the personal development of students. There are courtyards and other spill out spaces at every level where small and large group interaction can be formed. Ground floor of the campus houses administration, exhibition, library, workshops and canteen. The junior most students were allocated on top most floor so when they go to their studios they get a chance to see and discuss works of their seniors.
Passive form of energy, waste water management, rain water harvesting, conservation of all existing trees, use of LED lights etc. are some of the green sustainable criteria considered for campus.
