Project idea

The proposed project is a modern art museum under the theme of architectural porosity, one of the main objectives of this museum is to relate the surrounding environment; as a bridge between two different spaces.
The main idea of my project is to start from the lines of the front river of "Oued Sidi Zarzour" ( one of the most attractive places in the city of Biskra )and use them as a geometry basis for shaping the project and with developing the process of the porosity concept.

Project description

Using the principles of porosity concept “Steven Holl’s” gives the project a better air and light circulation, better accessibility and visibility at an urban scale, and better communication between interior and exterior spaces, so it can solve many problems related to lack of consideration in architectural space.
The difference type of pores in the project (openings, internal channels, cavities..) Keeps the maximum fluidity in it, giving more animation, ambiances through multiple forms and lights manipulation in the interior spaces especially in the exhibition spaces to avoid boredom.
The museum offers many secondary spaces for public apart from the exhibition spaces (service spaces, esplanade) to strength the idea of connecting the urban and architectural space, and to stimulate the public to visit the project indirectly, and participate to the quality of urban life.

Technical information

In the master plan: As we talked earlier the project plays a connector role between 2 different spaces as a way to solve many problems such as lack of spaces for pedestrian and connect the side of the Oued’s shore with rest of the city ; so I proposed an esplanade for public and kept the idea of porosity so each of these pores have a role (Space of water, places for Rest and relaxation ), besides that I proposed a promenade in the alongside with the river. And exterior auditorium oriented towards the shrines of Sidi Sarzour, and finally a public parking to respond to the needs of the maternity Building . We notice that there is another parking dedicated for administration and as you can see its isolated from the public spaces.
