Project idea

The project aims to Designing a palliative environment through Holistic architecture that generates therapeutic qualities for a cancer center and developing qualitative architecture that contributes in physical and psychological well being. “...The hospital is never good environment, Unless it is a MERA NEZA” stated by Cancer patient in Butaro hospital. Where “ MERA NEZA (Kinyarwanda word) is a place where you can stay alone in nature enjoying views of mountains,
in the forest where you only hear sounds of birds and wind through leaves of trees.”

Project description

The site is locate in Eastern province, bugesera district in gashora sector nearby Rumira lake. The choice of the site was based on the fact that the existing cancer center doesn't serve the whole country of Rwanda, and many cancer sufferers are found in Kigali(Capital city and 4 to 6 hours drive to the existing cancer center), So having another cancer center in Bugesera would help to serve the rest of the country and some parts of neighboring countries.
Other considerations are existence of nature and Landscape, Accessibility, quiet neighborhood and Existence of Hospital nearby.

Technical information

The project provides the site location and site analysis, Concept, design development and technical drawings as well.
